The High-Precision Dielectric-Loss Analyzing System 2840 is designed for measurement of very low dielectric losses and impedances (Dissipation Factor and Power Factor) of high-voltage apparatus (e.g. extruded insulation on power cables). The instrument works on the principle of a combined bridge-vector-meter and is capable of analyzing capacitive and inductive loads – especially shunt reactors – with outstanding accuracy and stability certified by a leading metrology institute.

Advanced software functionalities such as insulation temperature correction, programmable test sequences with pass/fail limits, graphical visualisation of measured data, etc. make this instrument a powerful tool for analysis of high-voltage equipment.

The Dielectric-Loss Analyzing System 2820a is designed for measurement of low dielectric losses and impedances (Dissipation Factor and Power Factor) of high-voltage apparatus (e.g. the insulation of bushings).
The instrument works on the principle of a combined bridge-vector-meter and is capable of analyzing capacitive and inductive loads with high accuracy and stability.

The Graphical User Interface of the instrument is highly intuitive, is focussed on convenience with built-in useful programs (e.g. support tool for tuning the external high-voltage supply) and uses a large colour touch screen as the input device.

[ Dissipation factor tan d standards ]

Dissipation factor tan d standards are designed for checking the accuracy of capacitance and dissipation factor measuring instruments.

A tan d standard is basically a standard capacitor in series with a resistor. To avoid excessive resistance values, a 1000 pF capacitor with a negligible dissipation factor should be used.

The resistance units have to be calibrated together with the standard capacitor (not incl. in scope of supply).

The 4761 and 4764 high precision standard current comparators are used as comparison standard in the differential method (bridge) measurement of current instrument transformers together with the measuring instruments type2763 and 2767.
The special active flux compensated design of these comparators results in negligible current errors.

For measurements at constant or varying temperatures, the pilot cell can be oven-controlled or oil-immersed. All metal parts are made of stainless steel. In order to avoid stray capacitances, the pilot cell is equipped with a shield.
