Our advanced impulse test systems are used for carrying out impulse voltage tests on HV apparatus like Power Transformers, Instrument Transformers, Switchgear, Breaker, HV Cable etc.
The tests are conducted with lightning (LI), full or chopped waves, and / or switching impulses (SI) as prescribed in the relevant international standards.
Haefely impulse test generators all integrate several safety systems, which ensure a safe operation for personnel and test object.

With the patented Overshoot compensation circuits (blocking of resonating effects between generator and test object) the impulse overshoot can be minimised respectively suppressed. Therefore overvoltages on highly capacitive test objects are avoided.

SGSA

[ Light Impulse Voltage Generator "S type" ]

SGSA impulse test systems can be used to generate impulse voltages simulating lightning strokes and switching surges.
The stage energy is 5 kJ. Max. charging voltage is 800kV.
Applications covered include testing according to IEC, ANSI/IEEE as well as other national standards.
The basic system can be upgraded in various ways for special tests and for greater ease of operation. A number of additional circuits and components allow optimising the impulse test system for tests on different kind of high voltage test objects.

SGDA

[ Medium Impulse Voltage Generator "Δ type" ]

SGDA impulse test systems can be used to generate impulse voltages simulating lightning strokes and switching surges.
The stage energy is 5 or 10 kJ. Max. charging voltage is 3MV.
Applications covered include testing according to IEC, ANSI/IEEE as well as other national standards. The basic system can be upgraded in various ways for special tests and for greater ease of operation. A number of additional circuits and components allow optimising the impulse test system for tests on different kind of high voltage test objects.
The generator is due to its unique, modular, patented structure (the D-shaped generator body also forms the enclorsure for the sphere gaps) perfectly suited for transportation and easy on-site erection. Also the internal inductance is the lowest ever built.

SGVA

[ Large Impulse Voltage Generator "V type" ]

SGVA impulse test systems can be used to generate impulse voltages simulating lightning strokes and switching surges.
Thestage energy is up to 30 kJ. Max. charging voltage is up to 10MV
Applications covered include testing according to IEC, ANSI/IEEE as well as other national standards. The basic system can be upgraded in various ways for special tests and for greater ease of operation. A number of additional circuits and components allow optimising the impulse test system for tests on different kind of high voltage test objects.
The generator is completed with an internal ladder, platforms and storage places for additional resistors for easiest wave shape adaptation.

[ External Damped Capacitive Impulse Voltage Divider  ]

The external damped capacitive impulse voltage dividers of the CS type can be used to measure full and tail chopped lightning impulses as well as switching impulses at voltage levels up to 1MV.
This voltage divider serves simultaneously as a load capacitor for the impulse generator. Provided with an adequate additional secondary part it can also be used for AC voltage measurements.

CZ

[ Optimal Damped Capacitive Impulse Voltage Divider ]

The optimal damped capacitive impulse voltage dividers of the CZ type can be used to measure full and tail chopped lightning impulses as well as switching impulses at voltage levels up to the highest voltage levels. (Identical design as CR type but damping resistor at test object instead of divider input what result in less reflection).
This voltage divider cannot be used as a load capacitor for the impulse generator. Provided with an adequate additional secondary part it can also be used for AC voltage measurements.

R

[ Resistive Voltage Divider ]

Resistive (low resistance) voltage dividers of the R type are fast and have good response parameters. Therefore they are normally used for measurements of full and front chopped lightning impulses or impulses voltages with steep wave fronts.
The response time of the divider is in accordance with IEC 60060. Resistive voltage dividers are used when an additional capacitance in the test circuit is not permissible due to the slowdown effect on the rise time. This voltage divider cannot be used as a load capacitor for the impulse generator.

RCR

[ Universal Voltage Divider ]

The damped capacitive universal voltage dividers of the RCR type can be used to measure full and tail chopped lightning impulses as well as switching impulses up to the highest voltages.
Provided with an adequate additional secondary part, it can also be used for the measurement of AC voltages as well as for DC voltages thanks to the additional ohmic parallel branch. This voltage divider serves simultaneously as a load capacitor for the impulse generator.

SH-H, SH-Q, SH-R

[ Measuring shunts ]

These shunts are used for the measurement of impulse currents in high-voltage test labs. The measured wave shape of the current can be displayed on a Haefely digital measuring instrument DMI551impulse or on a Haefley impulse analysing system like DiAS733 or HiAS743.
The shunts are consisting of a metal cylinder with coupling flanges and coaxial measuring connector. Three standard types are available depending on the measuring current. Other types are available upon request.

GC 223

[ Impulse Generator Controller ]

The desktop controller GC 223 allows comfortable and flexible control of an impulse generator system.
The unit can be connected with an impulse measurement device to form an integral control and measurement system. The GC 223 can also be fully remote controlled via RS 232 interface.
The unit supports manual operation as well as automated test sequences. The device is primarily intended for use in automated test bays, which are controlled by a host computer. Beside this the instrument can also be applied for stand-alone impulse generators, which do not require an embedded solution.

GC 257

[ Impulse Generator PC Controls ]

The Industrial PC based control system is specifically designed for the needs of HV impulse testing. The system is running a Windows based operating software package. Active and passive safety is implemented into the system as independent external emergency switches, software watchdogs, graphic symbols and status information for fast understanding.
A protocol file can be used for a further calculation. The protocol file is accessible in ASCI format which can be imported in the most spreadsheet or stochastic programs. A Report File can be created for further data processing.

chopping gaps

MAFS

[ Automated Multiple Chopping Gap ]

The multiple chopping gap is used to chop lightning impulses on the front and/or on the tail.
The multiple chopping gap serves simultaneously as a load capacitor for the impulse generator and allows excellent reproducibility of the chopping time and does not distort the wave shape until the chopping point.
The sphere distance is automatically adjusted and operated by the controls GC 223 and GC 257. A manual control box is available as well.

KFS

[ Horizontal & Vertical Sphere Gap ]

The sphere gap type KFS H or KFS V can be used for Impulse, AC and DC voltage calibration according to the IEC 60052 recommendation.
The spheres are arranged vertically or horizontally, one being mobile. In the vertical version the mobile spher is remotely adjusted using an electrical drive. I the horizontal version, both spheres are mounted on columns of insulatin material hence enabling to superimpose impulse AC and DC voltages.It is also possible to use the gap in a peaking circuit.
For the chopping of lightning impulses the sphere gap can be equipped with the optional chopping device.

HiAS® 743

[ High Resolution Impulse Analyzing System ]

HiAS 743

The HiAS® 743 is a multi-channel precision digital impulse analyzing system (12bit) of the highest performance class. The unit is designed as a desk/rack version. It's the most advanced and established system on the market, installed in more than 200 test labs.
Measurement evaluation and analysis of impulse voltages and currents can be performed according to all relevant standards for High Voltage ImpulseTesting. Automatic evaluation of the impulse shapes, as well as a manual evaluation mode are available.
Loads of functionality and tools for advanced testing are integrated. Additional analyzing software tools (Transfer & Coherence, Comparison) as well as DKD calibrations are available.

DiAS® 733

[ Digital Impulse Analyzing System ]

The DiAS® 733 is a multi-channel digital impulse analyzing system (10bit). It's the smaller brother of the HiAS system. The unit is designed as a desktop version.
Measurement evaluation and analysis of impulse voltages and currents can be performed according to all relevant standards for High Voltage ImpulseTesting. Automatic evaluation of the impulse shapes, as well as a manual evaluation mode are available.
Loads of additional functionality and tools for advanced testing are integrated.  A DKD calibration is optional available.

DMI 551

[ Digital Universal Measuring Instrument ]

The Digital Measuring Instrument DMI 551 is an instrument for measurement of AC, DC and impulse peak voltages by means of 3 independent channels. The instrument can also be used for firing a generator or a chopping sphere gap and to trigger an oscilloscope or any other measuring device. The instrument has also implemented a flash detector to store and display  the last voltage measurement and its polarity before a breakdown or flashover occurred.
Typical main applications of the unit include measurements of a voltage divider output or for automated product testing where the DMI 551 is integrated into a complete control and measuring platform. A DKD calibration certificate is optional available.

RSG 482

[ Recurrent Surge Generator ]

Recurrent Surge Generator 482 is a bench-top, one stage, low voltage equivalent of a high voltage impulse generator.
Its wide range of applications includes the testing of models, the study of voltage distribution in high voltage windings during impulse voltage stresses and the predetermination of the circuit parameters of impulse test plants.
Tests can be performed quickly and reliably without endangering personnel. All impulse circuit elements and, therefore, all impulse forms may be varied within broad limits with selector knobs.

RIC 422

[ Automated  Impulse Calibrator ]

The RIC 422 is used for the supervision and calibration of impulse measuring systems. The highest precision calibrator generates full SI, full LI and front-chopped LI impulses according to the related standards IEC 61083 and IEEE 1122 as well as unit step function and accurate DC voltages.
The accuracy of each calibrator can be traced back to the standards from PTB (Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, Braunschweig / Germany).
Fully automatic 4 channel calibration of Haefely Impulse Analysing Systems are possible thanks to the remote interface of the RIC and the integrated calibration control software in HIAS 743, DIAS 733

R 500 REF, RCZ 500 REF

[ Reference Voltage Dividers ]

Reference dividers are designed for the calibration of voltage dividers in accordance with IEC 60060-1 & 60060-2.
Type R is used for full, front and tail chopped impulse voltages.
Type RCZ is used for AC, DC & full and tail chopped impulse voltages.
The dividers are designed for indoor, mobile operation. The pure ohmic reference divider comprises also an external damping resistor.

USG 40

[ Unit Step Generator for divider calibration ]

The unit step generator emits recurrent rectangular pulses with rise times of < 5 ns using a D.C. source 60..300 V.
Its main application is the determination of the transfer characteristics of voltage dividers and shunts according to IEC 60060-3.
It can also be used for the measurements of transient over-voltages in networks during switching operations or short-circuits and to determine the voltage distribution across capacitors, resistors, etc. or measurement of their self-inductance.

RM 430

[ Capacitive Divider Ratio Meter ]

The ratio meter type 430 is used for the measurement and check-up of the transformation ratio of voltage dividers and terminal network.
The instrument measures the real transformation ratio taking into consideration the influence of the surroundings and including the effect of the measuring cable, which is important especially in the case of damped capacitive voltage dividers.
